What's the difference between a fragrance oil and an essential oil?
Fragrance oils are scent blends formulated to deliver a specific aroma — like Strawberry Cheesecake or Eternal Life — while essential oils are single-botanical extracts distilled from plants like lavender or peppermint. Fragrance oils offer far more scent variety, stronger and longer-lasting throw in candles and diffusers, and more consistent batch-to-batch performance. Essential oils are chosen when you want natural plant chemistry for aromatherapy purposes. -
What's the difference between regular and waterless fragrance oils from Aroma Paradise?
Regular Aroma Paradise fragrance oils are designed for water-based and passive diffusers — ultrasonic, humidifying, reed diffusers — plus candles, soaps, and room sprays. Waterless fragrance oils are a separate, more concentrated formulation made for cold-air nebulizing diffusers (such as Aroma360, AromaTech, or hotel-style waterless diffusers). The two lines are not interchangeable: using regular oils in a waterless diffuser will clog it, and waterless oils are too concentrated for a water-based ultrasonic tank. -
Can I use Aroma Paradise fragrance oils in my ultrasonic water diffuser?
Yes. Aroma Paradise regular fragrance oils are designed for ultrasonic and humidifying water diffusers. Add 3–5 drops per 100ml of water, run for 10 minutes, then add 1–2 more drops if you want a stronger throw. Because fragrance oil and water naturally separate, wipe the tank after each full run to prevent residue on the ultrasonic plate. These oils are not compatible with waterless or nebulizing diffusers — for those, use our Waterless Fragrance Oil line. -
How many drops of fragrance oil do I need in my diffuser?
Start with 3–5 drops per 100ml of water for a standard ultrasonic diffuser, or 4–8 drops for a 200–300ml tank. Wait 10 minutes — scent perception builds gradually — then add 1–2 drops if you want a stronger throw. Using too much oil can leave residue on the ultrasonic plate and dampen mist output, so it's easier to add than to dilute back down. -
How long does a 2oz bottle of fragrance oil last?
A 2oz (60ml) bottle of Aroma Paradise fragrance oil provides roughly 60–90 hours of active diffuser use at 4 drops per run, assuming a standard 2-hour ultrasonic cycle. In candle-making at a 6–10% load, one 2oz bottle scents 3–4 medium jar candles (8oz wax each). In reed diffusers, a 2oz bottle sustains scent for 6–10 weeks depending on stick count and reed rotation. -
Can I use this fragrance oil in candles and soaps?
Yes. Aroma Paradise fragrance oils are multi-use and formulated for candle and cold-process soap making. For candles, add 6–10% fragrance by wax weight — roughly 1oz of oil per 1 pound of wax — to the melted wax at 185°F (soy) or 180°F (paraffin). For cold-process soap, use a 3–5% load by total batch weight. Always test a small batch first to confirm scent throw and behavior in your specific wax or soap base. -
Can I apply fragrance oil directly to my skin?
No — pure fragrance oil should never be applied undiluted to skin. Fragrance oils are highly concentrated and must be blended into a carrier (jojoba oil, fractionated coconut oil, unscented lotion) at a maximum 3% dilution for body products, per IFRA guidelines. Aroma Paradise fragrance oils are primarily formulated for diffusers, candles, soaps, and room sprays — always check the specific product's IFRA certificate before using in any leave-on skin application.

Are Aroma Paradise fragrance oils safe for homes with pets?
Aroma Paradise regular fragrance oils are phthalate-free, cruelty-free, and made in the USA — which addresses the two chemicals (phthalates and synthetic musks) most associated with pet-fragrance concerns. Always diffuse in a well-ventilated room and never in a closed space with a pet. Cats are more sensitive to airborne aromatics than dogs, so keep bedrooms and crates diffuser-free. If a pet shows signs of distress — sneezing, hiding, watery eyes — stop diffusing and consult your vet. -
How long do fragrance oils last on the shelf before they expire?
Unopened Aroma Paradise fragrance oils stay fresh for about 2 years; opened bottles last 12–18 months with proper storage. Citrus and light floral scents oxidize faster (6–12 months opened) while woody, musk, and vanilla bases hold for 2–4 years. Store bottles tightly capped, upright, away from direct sunlight, between 65°F and 85°F. Signs of expiration include color darkening, a sour or metallic edge to the scent, or a thickened consistency. -
What's the best way to store fragrance oils?
Store fragrance oils upright, tightly capped, in a cool dark place between 65°F and 85°F (18–29°C). Avoid bathrooms, windowsills, and any spot with temperature swings — heat and UV light accelerate oxidation. Keep bottles in their original packaging or a dedicated box; the dark glass protects the oil and prevents cross-scenting. Don't refrigerate — condensation on a cold bottle cap can introduce water into the oil. -
Why does my fragrance oil smell different after a few months?
A shifted scent profile usually means the oil has partially oxidized — top notes (citrus, green, fresh aldehydic) volatilize first, so an older bottle tends to smell heavier and more base-note-dominant. This is normal and doesn't make the oil unsafe to burn in candles, but the throw will be weaker. To slow this, keep the bottle tightly capped, store away from heat and light, and try to use opened bottles within 12–18 months. -
Can I use fragrance oils in a reed diffuser?
Yes — Aroma Paradise fragrance oils work well in reed diffusers. Fill a narrow-necked glass bottle with about 60–70% fragrance oil and 30–40% diffuser base (DPG or unscented carrier oil). Insert 6–8 rattan reeds and flip them every 3–4 days to refresh the scent. A 2oz bottle diffused this way lasts 6–10 weeks. Avoid porous surfaces around the base — some fragrance oils can mark untreated wood or stone. -
Are Aroma Paradise fragrance oils IFRA-compliant and phthalate-free?
Yes. All Aroma Paradise regular fragrance oils are IFRA-compliant, phthalate-free, toxin-free, and cruelty-free. They're blended and bottled in the USA under RIFM safety guidance, which tests every fragrance ingredient for skin, inhalation, and environmental safety. IFRA compliance means each oil is formulated within the maximum safe concentration limits for its intended product category — candles, diffusers, room sprays, and dilute leave-on applications. -
Where are Aroma Paradise fragrance oils made?
Aroma Paradise fragrance oils are blended and bottled in the United States. All oils are formulated under IFRA and RIFM safety standards, phthalate-free, and cruelty-free. The core line — Aromar, Aroma Paradise, and Mystic Romance — is manufactured in the USA; the Aum bambooless incense line is hand-rolled in India.
