FAQs
-
What does Peppermint essential oil smell like?
Fresh, cool, minty, sharp.
Steam-distilled from peppermint leaves (Mentha piperita) — the scent is the plant's natural aromatic profile, undiluted.
-
Can I apply this directly to my skin?
No — never apply undiluted essential oil to skin. Always blend with a carrier oil (jojoba, sweet almond, fractionated coconut) at 2–5% concentration for topical use. Patch-test on the inner elbow first; discontinue if irritation occurs.
-
Can I use this in a diffuser?
Yes — add 3–5 drops to the water reservoir of an ultrasonic / humidifying diffuser. Not compatible with waterless / cold-air diffusers — those need our waterless fragrance oils.
-
How does Peppermint essential oil differ from a fragrance oil?
Essential oil is steam-distilled directly from the plant (peppermint leaves (Mentha piperita)) — pure, undiluted, with the plant's natural therapeutic properties. Fragrance oil is a synthetic or semi-synthetic scent designed for diffusion only; not for topical use, and without the same aromatherapy benefits.
-
Is this oil safe around pets?
Many essential oils — including some on this list — are not safe for cats, dogs, or birds when diffused or applied. Cats are especially sensitive (no liver enzyme to process certain compounds). Consult your veterinarian before diffusing essential oils in spaces with pets. When in doubt, use a well-ventilated area and observe for any signs of distress.
-
What does it pair well with?
Layers beautifully with eucalyptus, lemon essential oils. Try building custom diffuser blends with 2–3 complementary oils, or DIY massage blends with a carrier oil base.
