Most of our bracelets combine at least two of these approaches.

The Evil Eye is a protection amulet dating back more than 5,000 years — found across ancient Greek, Turkish, Middle Eastern, Indian, and African cultures. The belief is that envious or negative glances can cause harm; the Evil Eye bracelet absorbs and deflects that energy back. The classic blue eye design is the most common, though you'll find purple (spiritual protection), red (courage), and black (shielding against negativity) variants in our catalog.

The Hamsa (also spelled "Khamsa," meaning "five" in Arabic) is a downward-facing hand amulet symbolizing the Hand of God across Jewish, Islamic, and Christian traditions. It's considered a universal protection sign that brings the wearer happiness, luck, health, and good fortune. In Buddhism, the five fingers map to the five chakras that purify body and mind. Often paired with the Evil Eye in the palm for layered protection.

Apply 1 drop of essential oil to each lava stone (the black, porous beads) and rub gently. Wait 1–2 minutes for absorption before wearing. The porous volcanic rock holds scent for 6–24 hours depending on the oil — citrus and florals fade faster, while cinnamon, patchouli, and sandalwood last all day. Refresh when the scent fades. Use essential oils for this — fragrance oils can leave stains on light fabric.

Most traditions agree: wear protection and receiving-energy bracelets (Evil Eye, Hamsa, abundance stones) on the left wrist — the left is considered the receiving side, drawing in protection and positive energy. Manifesting and giving-energy bracelets (intention stones, crystal towers, giving stones) traditionally go on the right — the giving/outgoing side. Many practitioners wear a balanced set on each wrist. There's no strict rule — wear it where it feels right.

Cleanse monthly: pass through sage or palo santo smoke for 30 seconds, rest on a selenite slab for 1–2 hours, or hold briefly under cool running water. Charge: leave in moonlight overnight during the full moon, or in morning sunlight for 30 minutes. Avoid salt water — it degrades lava stone porosity and corrodes metal components. Cleansing is especially important after stressful events, arguments, or when you first receive a new bracelet.

Showers / baths: remove it — water loosens the stretch cord and washes away essential oils. Pool / ocean: always remove. Chlorine degrades stones; salt water corrodes metal. Sleep: usually fine, though prolonged nightly pressure will weaken stretch cords after 6–12 months. Handwashing: brief contact is OK. Remove before applying sunscreen, lotion, or hand sanitizer to prevent residue buildup on beads.

Zodiac: uses the birthstone associated with your sun sign (e.g., garnet for Capricorn, aquamarine for Pisces). Chakra: combines seven stones corresponding to the body's energy centers from root to crown. Wish: a lightweight cord bracelet tied with intention — traditionally worn until the cord naturally wears through and breaks, at which point the wish is believed to be released. Power: pairs a specific stone to an outcome (abundance: citrine, protection: black tourmaline, love: rose quartz, calm: amethyst).

Stretch cords naturally weaken after 1–2 years of daily wear — the most common failure point. For repair at home, buy 0.5mm or 0.7mm clear elastic bead cord at any craft store and restring in the original order. Save all your beads when the cord snaps. Avoid the #1 cause of breakage: pulling the bracelet over a clenched fist. Instead, relax your hand and slide it on gently. Measure your wrist circumference with a flexible tape just above the wrist bone. Women's standard: 6.5–7.5 inches. Men's standard: 7.5–8.5 inches. Add 0.5 inch for comfortable fit. Our stretch-cord bracelets typically accommodate a 1-inch range (7–8 inches on most designs). For intention and meditation bracelets, a slightly looser fit that slides over the wrist easily is generally preferred.
