Sand Candle Calculator

Use this sand candle calculator to estimate how much candle sand you need for a jar, bowl, vase, centerpiece, or refillable candle vessel. It also gives a starter/refill recommendation based on the live Aroma Paradise kit sizes.

Calculate your candle sand

Measure the opening across the inside edge, in inches.
Use the height in inches you want to fill with candle sand, not the full vessel height.
Most small vessels use one centered wick. Wide vessels need careful spacing between wicks.
Rounded and tapered vessels usually need less candle sand than a straight cylinder.

How to measure a vessel

Measure the inside diameter in inches.Measure the open space inside the vessel, not the outside wall-to-wall size.
Pick a fill depth in inches.Leave room above the candle sand. Do not fill to the rim or crowd the flame.
Choose wick count after measuring width.A small jar usually needs one wick. A wide centerpiece can use multiple wicks only with safe spacing.
Round up when buying refills. The calculator is an estimate. Vessel shape, bead settling, and how level you fill the candle all change the exact amount.
Starter kit

Best if you want a complete first setup. The live Aroma Paradise starter kit includes 3 oz candle sand, a jar, 3 wicks, and fragrance oil.

Refill kit

Best if you already have a heat-safe vessel or need to fill a larger container. Refills include 12 oz candle sand and 8 wicks.

Wick spacing

Keep wicks upright, away from the vessel wall, and separated from each other. More wicks are not automatically safer or better.

Safety notes for candle sand

Use heat-safe vessels only. Avoid plastic, wood, thin glass, cracked glass, and containers with flammable coating or trim. Never leave a burning candle unattended, keep it away from kids and pets, and stop using a vessel if it gets too hot, cracks, smokes heavily, or behaves unexpectedly.
